Next time you are at the grocer, pick up a box of Bisquick and look at all the ingredients – you will be shocked at what you read, even those you don’t know what they are.  This recipe is organic and will last 4 months in the frig.  I learned the original one from OurHalfAcreHomestead video on YouTube.  One difference! I’ve added Buttermilk Powder.  I’m hoping she will make a video showing how to make buttermilk powder, but until then, I’ve used an organic one.

  • 6 cups of All-Purpose Flour
  • 3 Tbsp of Organic Baking Powder
  • 1 Tbsp of Organic or Kosher Salt
  • 1 cup of Buttermilk Powder
  • 1 cup of Lard or Organic Shortening

Use the whisk paddle on your kitchen aid, add your dry ingredients then on speed 1 blend well.  Add your Lard/Shortening and blend until crumbly.  Store in ziplock bag in the frig for up to 4 months

Note: When making pancakes, just add an egg for every two cups and milk until the batter become pancake consistency.
